  1. Do you have a catalog?
    Our website is our catalog. In our website for each of our brand’s model numbers we provide documents such as line art drawings/dimensions, tear sheets with product information and finish options. You can also visit the websites of our brands and learn what each manufacturer has to say about their products. Please note that our finish options represent close approximations to the finishes as they appear on the product – but they are not exact.
  1. What materials are your products made from?
    All of our products are made of solid brass or solid bronze. We have some knobs that include other materials such as glass. 
  1. What decorative hardware types of products do you sell?
    FineKnobs sells only architectural grade cabinet and furniture hardware made by high quality manufacturers throughout the world. We do not offer low and middle grade products.
  1. Can I return an order if I don’t like it?
    If you have concerns about ordering items online and you want to avoid the challenges of requesting a return for an item you don’t like, a good way to ensure your satisfaction with a purchase decision is to order a sample item before you place a multi-item order. Please note that our finish options represent close approximations to the finishes as they appear on the product – but they are not exact.

    Our Refund Policy allows for items to be returned under certain circumstances, and some items that are returned may incur a restocking fee to process the return.

    Under no circumstances will a special order item or an item that that has been installed be accepted for a return and credit.  However, if an item is defective, we will replace the item at our cost.
  1. How long will it take to delivery my order?
    Most of our items are made-to-order and may require 6-7 weeks for delivery in the domestic United States. Standard ground shipping is included in the delivery time estimate. Most of our items will be delivered directly from the manufacturer. Please visit our Shipping Policy page to learn more about our delivery program including how to request expedited shipping. 
  1. Does FineKnobs use the manufacturer’s model numbers?
    In virtually all of our products the manufacturer’s models numbers are incorporated into our model numbers. We commonly add leading characters to our model numbers to distinguish one manufacturer from another (ex. CB = Classic Brass, RM = Rocky Mountain). And in most cases our finish options are coded similarly to the brands we carry. In all cases we make selecting the correct finish as easy as possible by providing you with finish option charts for all our brands.
  1. How do I find a product on your site?
    You can narrow your search for specific products in one of three ways – by the brand/manufacturer (one of four), by the type of product (one of seven) and by style of product (one of four). Once you have narrowed your search, a gallery of items will be made available to you to view and select. When you view an item within the gallery that you want to see more detail, simply click on that item and a detailed product page will appear. If you want to submit that item into your cart, please follow the directions on the page. If you want to return to another item, please use the back arrow or other navigation prompts on each page.   1. How do I maintain my hardware?
    Maintaining finishes depends on the type of finishing technique requested. In most cases mild soapy water applied and dried quickly is the proper technique to use. You should not use harsh chemicals or cleaners on any products. Each manufacturer has their own advice for proper care of their products so please visit their websites for more details.

    Please note that living finishes – e.g. no plating of any sort – will change appearance over time and become richer and more refined while plated items will maintain their new finish longer.
  1. What is a FineKnobs special order?
    A special order is a product(s) that is not shown exactly on the FineKnobs website. Examples of a special order include a manufacturer’s item that we do not list as standard, a finishing technique that can be applied to a standard item (ex. hammering, leather wrapping) or engraving that can be applied to certain standard items.
  1. What is California Proposition 65?
    California's Proposition 65 entitles California consumers to special warnings for certain products that contain chemicals above certain threshold levels.

    The general Proposition 65 notice is as follows:
    WARNING: This product contains chemicals, including lead, known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.

    Proposition 65 notice for wood products is as follows:
    WARNING: Drilling, sawing, sanding or machining wood products generates wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer. Use a respirator or other safeguards to avoid inhaling wood dust.
